Hey Ho, It's on the Road We Go!

Yes, The Taj is on the road.

First stop Bendigo due to Nigella's shift finishing at 02.30 in the morning, he was pretty well dashed, so the Maharini drove and we decided just to get out of Melbourne and avoid the Monday city traffic.  All was packed up and ready to go; just pile Nigella's Louis Vuitton luggage in (sooo much stuff for a bloke!) and we were on the road.

Stopped to fill with fuel and air and then on to the A-Line Caravan park in Bendigo (very nice spot) with our own ensuite shower and loo, dropped off the van and headed into the Art Gallery to see the "Body Beautiful" Greek exhibition (stunning and somewhat naughty, I may add) and the Victoria & Albert Museum "lend" of underwear throughout the ages (fascinating). Wow, some of those corsets were torture chambers. The lacings were pulled so tight as to cause permanent damage to the spine and vital organs. As for corsets, I saw what I wore in the late 60's. Ugh! But true.

All ready to watch The Block tonight to see the staircases, but the cable on the TV is stuffed, so off to do some shopping before we head off to Barmera tomorrow. We might catch the rerun, but someone tape it for me! (I've left my 'lecky toothbrush somewhere, but where I don't know. Probably at home still!)  Hope the furrrrs are doing well at ABBA and enjoying their pussy holiday. I know Aunty Jane will look after them for me. :-)

The Maharini and Nigella Queen of the Desert, the intrepid travellers, are now setting up checklists, bookings, checklists, sights to see, checklists.....ah, did I mention checklists!  Yes, it's all go, go, go!
As you can see from below, Scamp is overseeing Nigel's itinerary selection!! :-)

Nigella did his test run today in the Merc with caravan on the back.  Yes, all good with the 360 degree turns, braking, emergency braking, reversing and obeying directions - in essence, Nigella was practising his tram driving skills in my Merc! (The Sod nearly put my head through the windscreen!)  One slight problem with a European car was encountered. Every time Nigella wanted to turn left or right, he kept putting on the windscreen wipers. Yes, European car - everything is the reverse because it is essentially a left hand drive!  He will probably get it right when we are on the way home.

We have done all the checks around the caravan as to what works and what goes where. Of course, Nigella has decided that everything in the van needs to be re-arranged; probably to accommodate the Louis Vuitton luggage.  But I digress.  All that rigging and de-rigging of gliders has us in the check and re-check mode, so that everything is ready to go and we don't leave the electrical cable attached when we head off.

Car has been serviced and the new fuel pump and gauge installed. Pity the fuel gauge on the dashboard still doesn't work. Another visit to Mercedes to get that right! Oh joy. How my wallet depleteth!

I will have my favourite picture of my lovely husband so that he will be with us in spirit on this adventure. He would have loved it, I know.

We are both excited about our holiday and to GETAWAY!   Heat and sun, here we come!

For my swedish pals,  "Jag kan inte vänta med att åka på semester"!

Salutations for now!
