It's Tuesday, 2nd September and the Taj is now in Port Augusta having stopped over in Loxton last night. Have now become a member of Big 4 and I must say their facilities are very good and most have the option of an ensuite so you have your own bathroom and toilet.
A couple of hours after leaving Bendigo, I developed a case of "Bendigo Belly". Not sure if it was the water or just a bug, but was working out by GPS where all the roadside stops were and some not on the map!! Oh joy! Nigella made a great nurse when we arrived into Loxton, he took one look at me and said "you look like crap!" Very subtle. So I crawled into bed and was given Imodium, soup, a mug of black tea and tucked in. I crashed. Breakfast was a couple of rice crackers and black tea. So much for Lite N Easy! I think I'm down to 65 kgs without trying!
We toddled off today and found Burra! What a magical, living heritage town. All the buildings and homes are the early 19th century sandstone brick homes, that can only be found in South Australia. We are going to stay there on the way home and explore. Driving into the town is from atop a hill and a view over the town, with church steeples and homes nestled in the valley. A gem. We discovered an antique book and treasures shoppe where Nigel purchased a stunning original ship's compass from the 1800's, all in working order. His credit card is sunk, but it was worth it; it's a beauty! http://visitburra.com/burra-visitor-information-centre
We have been shopping for a new antenna, so hopefully will have TV reception tomorrow night and can catch up on world news..........maybe. I'm beginning to think ignorance is bliss. :-)
We have two days in Port Augusta to rest up before heading to Coober Pedy and the opals!! YES!!
